Professor Emeritus Dr. George Holmes Dies at 77

Dr. George R. Holmes, a distinguished professor emeritus in the Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Science, died December 12, 2016 at the age of 77.

Holmes received his master’s degree in psychology and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of South Carolina.

A professor and researcher with expertise in child and adolescent development, Holmes was involved with the School of Medicine during its founding and early years.

Throughout his career, he published in multiple journals, received several teaching awards and was often invited to present at international psychiatry meetings.
